Craniosacral Therapy.

Craniosacral Therapy is a therapeutic approach that comes out of Osteopathy. Early osteopaths learned from indigenous peoples who practiced bone setting, as was the case with Andrew Sills who learned from Cherokee and Shawnee healers. Osteopath’s were shown that micromovements constantly occur in the body, and when these motions have their full range of movement, conditions improve. This is a foundational belief in Craniosacral Therapy today.

In Craniosacral Therapy, we listen to many different systems within the body and use touch to support a greater range of movement, flow and health. It looks at supporting the system in coming in to alignment. As the name suggests, the cranium, sacrum and spine are all foundational components to this work. This modality is wide reaching and can help support people in many ways (see benefits and study below).  Light touch is generally used.

May be used to treat…

TMJ, chronic stress, migraines, tension and/or pain in the body, anxiety, depression, pregnancy difficulty, fibromyalgia, SI pain, insomnia, neck tension, and concussions to name a few

Studies showing the efficacy of cranial sacral therapy are becoming wider known (reference study below about neck pain). This will only continue to grow as the modality continues to gain recognition.
